As a young teenager fascinated by images, my father gave me a piece of advice that has stayed with me:
Stories only happen to those who tell them.
My camera helps me see people as they are not as they pose. I look for what lies between two gazes, not between two poses. I don’t seek perfection; I seek truth.
Before my passion became my profession, I was shy. Each image is a trace, not a performance.
Each image is an apnea — a moment suspended between control and surrender.
The son of a painter, Jacques Ballard has made light and movement his field of expression. Adventurer, photographer, and director of photography, he moves between documentary, advertising, and underwater exploration always guided by a common thread: humanity, the body in motion, and the pleasure of the senses.

Mon appareil m’aide à voir les gens tels qu’ils sont, pas tels qu’ils posent. Je cherche ce qui se cache entre deux regards, pas entre deux poses. Je ne cherche pas la perfection, je cherche une vérité. Avant que ma passion ne devienne mon métier, j’étais timide. Chaque image est une trace, pas une performance.
